VIDEO: Three Days, The Stupid Heater Died!

VIDEO: Three Days! The Heater Died!

I'm camped at a friends farm helping him out. I was looking forward to plugging in and using the new little heater for a good test. It worked great the first three days then last night, I noticed it was getting colder and colder inside the TC. I reached down to check the heater which was cold. Took off the covers to inspect the internals, thermal and tip over safety devices, which looked fine. I don't have my electrical meter with me (of course) to test it. Visually things look fine. Gave it the usual couple smacks to see if it would kick on to no avail. Fortunately I have two full propane tanks with lots of battery and shore power so I'm doing fine. Looks like I won a free trip to LOWE's to return or exchange it.
It did this same thing when I originally got it and first turned it on. It stopped working and after a couple tilts to reset the tip over switch and other smacks, it started to work. It was fine till last night and now just won't work. I monkeyed with it again this AM, but it's still not working. I'm hoping I just got a dud.
I'll keep y'all posted on what happens with it. Otherwise I was quite happy with how it fit in and heated the space.

My Camp Spot.
  • Two thumbs up on King heaters. I am a landlord and house flipper. I have installed a bunch of King heaters and never had a single problem.

Another funny from the Wacky World of Whazoo!
Shouldn't you be working on a trip report or something???????
    That would be hot!
Good to hear from you Dave. Hope all is well.

    Was it made in..................China?.........:E

NO! KING is made in South Seattle I believe. KING is a very large manufacturer of residential, commercial, government heating solutions. I've installed many of their heaters in houses the past 30 years and all have worked flawlessly. This is unusual to have a KING product fail. We'll see what the replacement does.

Sorry, but auto fix hardly ever works for long

Very true but none the less I thought I'd exercise the old adage, "If it ain't fixed, don't break it"!

    Replacement coming soon.

Does the heater have a safety tip over switch on the bottom? Ours while sitting on carpet didn't like the soft carpet surface and would not engage the safety switch, we always had to set it on hard surface floor.

It has an internal tip over switch. I can hear the ball inside move and a click of the contacts. I think the problem is the thermal cut out sensor.
