To me it depends on the vinyl . I had a 2000 XL crew cab with vinyl seats. They were the slick finish vinyl and did not have an adjustable back on the front seat...basically the Angle FMC for the seat back did not fit my frame...it was also a one piece front bench which meant that my wife had to be scrunched up so I can reach the Pedals (yes! She has long legs :B)
Had this seat been a 60/40 or 40/20/40 with an adjustable back we would have been much much happier.
I would absolutely own one of the newer Crew cabs in vinyl seats...much nicer than the seats of old.
