wow...I'm really surprised of the posts LIKING vinyl seats!...too cold in the winter, burn your skin off in the summer!!...but as they say, diff strokes for diff folks!
I once bought a used Ford Cabriolet 5th wheel hauler from the owner (BIG three door sucker, think SportChassis). Seats were vinyl as I recall.
The previous owner had installed seat protection covers made of many hundreds of small wooden balls (think thumbnail size but round) woven together with a thin cordage system into the shape of the seats themselves.
The setup perfectly fit the seats and protected them from wear and tear but not spillage as space between the balls would allow liquids to reach the vinyl. Thus, no bodily contact with the vinyl and prevented the Burning Bum or Frosty Fanny Syndromes.
The covers also easily slipped off of the seats when needed.
But the biggest advantage was how comfortable those covers were! Unbelievable in that the ride was so relaxing and driving the rig for 8-12 hours was not too tiring for us.
Never sat in seats as comfortable since then.
