I got a nice Curt rack for the front of my truck. This rack can fold up when not in use. I want to put marker flags on it so I can see it (remind me its there) but I also want to be able to move/remove these flags so I can fold it up. I was thinking if attaching a tube (with clamps so I don't need a drill rack?) to the front corners so I can drop a thin fiberglass pole you use to mark your driveway for snow plows.I think I need 23" of height to see it over the hood. What have others done?

I've never done it but, why not hose clamp short pieces of 3/4" PVC to the front corners. Then insert longer pieces of 1/2" PVC.It's quick and cheap. If they get lost or broken, it won't be a big deal to replace them.Or you can use dowels in the correct diameter in place of the 1/2" PVC.Just hose clamp the longer 1/2" PVC to the rack?

FLags... bad. The flapping in the wind will destroy them, and the flapping in the wind will be a huge distraction while driving.Home Depot sells driveway marker poles that are orange fiberglass with reflective tape on the top. They should be down the aisle where the rope and chain is.They are commonly used in the winter months, where it snows, to mark locations of things you don't want to tear up with the snow plow, things that the snow hides.

The clamps used for kids bicycle flags would work. More expensive would be quick disconnect air fittings or off-road vehicle flag mounts.

I had to do the same thing to the back of my cargo carrier. Wasn't me forgetting it was there. It was the people who pulled up behind me at stop lights and 'then' forgot the carrier was there because they couldn't see it once they pulled up behind me and then they would move up and hit it.:RI used the red rigid driveway markers. Look for the ones with a flat or four sided pole. They stay put better no matter how you attached them. I then spray painted the pole black so it didn't look so tacky. Even took a brush and painted the trim around the reflector black too. And just left them on.BTW: When parked at CG's, before I put the reflector poles on it everyone was walking smashing their shins into it including myself.And get a roll of this and put it on the sides so at night it can be seen.

A pair of short fiberglass CB antennas, on 3/8" quick release stud mounts, will allow you to remove the antennas quickly, while also being quite secure when they are on. A thick, stiff Firestik type antenna will stand up in the wind better than the skinny ones.

Here's a front pic i just took for you, ours is the fold up rack to, we need to be able to remove the poles, gonna weld pipes on this weekend.

thanks sharkman, never thought about the fact the poles placed on corners will be in line with the headlights. pretty soon this will look like its been designed by committee. :)

I just duct tape a broken red fishing rod to mine. Quick, cheap and easy.

Use insulated cable clamps on the tube frame and second set bolted to those to hold your markers/flags.

Did not want to drill holes in mine either, smashed the end of a water pipe, drilled and tapped a 6/32 hole for an allen head bolt, electrical tape and zip ties to hold it on until i tac weld them on, i positioned the sight poles to the inside of headlights so i wouldn't get the glare.

teh Curt rack I have has different railing and corners than the other pictures here. I don't want to drill this edge and weaken it, thus the extra thought I am putting into it.

If you go with the HF wire running poles, keep in mind that they are metric thread if you use threaded inserts. I used a thick walled round steel spacer about an 1 1/2" long, drilled it out to fit the brass feral of the wire fishing rods except the last 1/8". I then use small threaded knobs to quickly mount or dismount the poles into the metal spacers which I brazed into the front tubing of the generator carrier. Again, cheap, bright yellow, works great and lots of spares!

I bought a fiberglass reminder pole at home depot. Cut to size. Drilled 2 holes on each side of rack and mounted them with these clamps from Amazon.
