I am surprised that the road side emissions testers didn't pick up on it. we have both types here, road side that picks up your exhaust as you drive by as well as traditional tail pipe testers. The TDI's wouldn't have been able to fool the road side test, they would have gotten a notice in the mail that their vehicle was out of spec and would need further testing before renewing the tags.
