VW has already come out and said their "fix" will cause MPG and performance issues. DEF is only part of the problem and certainly isn't the only stand alone fix.
The problem isn't going to affect as many as people think. Yes there may be 11 million cars that are a problem, but the vast marjory of people lease their cars. They may be let out of their leases early.
Those who purchased the cars are the people who are screwed. How long will a fix take? Right now we can't trade in or sell the car. When the car is fixed the value certainly is going to take a hit.
I'm going to give VW America tomorrow and see what they have to say. Then our state attorney General as 30 state AG's have banded together to look at violated state laws. Third call to attorney.
There was certainly fraud involved here and I won't be surprised at some VW people end up going to jail.
