One of these companies can well afford to take a 20 billion hit if that's what it is.
VW will still be around well into the future. And probably without a government bailout. VW has a lot more financial stability than did GM and Chrysler, and look how it turned out for them.
Well this has nothing to do with GM or FCA or any other manufacture, it has to do with VW/Audi. FCA does not have a program in-bedded in their ECM to defeat the EPA tests. They have already been checked and cleared.
If it were only 20 billion that would be one thing. The fine alone could be 17 billion just from the US EPA not including any other fines. Then you add in the European Countries and you are looking well beyond 20 billion.
BTW how is a high interest loan that was paid back well before it was do a "bailout"? The banks got a bailout GM and Chrysler got the shaft.
