All you say is true, yet I still think it's going to sell very well and carve out a good chunk of the half-ton market.
I could be wrong, time will tell.
It will be interesting but just got back from lunch and a local station had these prices:
Reg $3.45
Mid $3.55
Prem $3.75
Diesel $3.89
So $0.44 more than regular per gallon. Or 12% more than Regular. That's a lot of diesel you have to buy to make it worthwhile, and that doesn't count the higher purchase price and higher maintenance.
It will be interesting when they release the EPA #'s so we can compare like for like. I still think Ram/Chrysler is not getting the #'s they want so are trying to figure out how to get it there. As well as they have pushed this thing back a bunch of times since it was announced. It was supposed to be here in Fall 2013, then EOY 2013, and now it's spring 2014?!?!?!?!
OK, we understand your agenda....anti diesel, pro gas.....almost every post you make, it's perfectly clear where you stand....We get it...BUT, like you, it's a choice one makes, and if one opt's to PAY for a diesel engine, all the negatives won't stop them from doing it. Just like you with a gasser....I never owned a diesel TO TOW WITH until 2003....as long as I'm towing in the mountains and towing heavy....I'll own a diesel, no matter the cost because, I can afford it...one should only purchase and maintain what they can afford, not particulary what they want....so happens a lot of us in here want and can afford and will purchase a diesel no matter how many negatives you post time after time after time...etc.......
I paid $3.73 last I filled up...you also forgot DEF cost, (about $2.65 a gallon, though right now, I'm averaging 1100-1350 mpg of DEF BUT, it's still a cost on newer diesels and I want to make sure you hit every base:).
Where did you read that the Ram 1500 with diesel would be here in the fall of 13??? Wow, you must have some kind of insider information.....Never heard that, but you being an "IT guy", you probably know more than most of us in here, at least that's the impression I get from you when I read any of your post
RAM chief engineer reported in this
video that the diesel (3.0 motori :B) will be available late this year. Not surprised this guy was wrong since this is the same guy who was down playing def equipment trucks as little as two years ago. :R
