I returned my new Winnebago for simple warranty work for a leak at the toilet hose connection. The technician changed the clamp and installed too large of clamp. He did not test the system and returned it leaking worse than one I took in. I was forced to fix the leak myself.
I found the insulation in the floor was soaked and needed to be removed. I also found the root cause of the original leak. The PEX plumbing harness was not the correct version for my trailer, so the assembly plant modified the PEX harness and added an outlet for the toilet.
I could tell that they modified it because outlet PEX was the wrong color. The crimp band was in the wrong position also. The PEX adapter fitting from 1/2OD PEX to 1/2 ID hose was a PEX fitting that had a recess machined into it for the crimp band position. When the fitting was used for the hose connection the aviation clamp was wider than the recess for the PEX crimp band. The result was little to no compression on the hose connection.
To fix this connection I changed from the aviation style clamp to a European fuel injection clamp which is similar to the width of the PEX crimp ring. I changed all of the aviation clamps in the trailer to the Euro clamps. I had several clamps that were leaking on the suction side of the system. After the repairs were made the system worked better that it ever did.
The hot/cold thin wall hose used in the service connections is a very poor design. The PEX supplier should had terminated to 3/8 copper fitting thread. Then a standard braded hose to faucet connection could have been used for the service connections.
