Can I use a power washer on my trailer? How do you go about washing/waxing yours? Had trailer for just over a year and it now needs a good wax ect-Thanks

  • I use a brush with a long handle for washing. I use either Meguiars or Nu-Finish for waxing. I apply the wax with a 6" Ryobi orbital buffer that I bought at Home Depot (best purchase I ever made). I try to wax it spring and fall.
  • I have a soft bristle brush on an extension pole for washing.
Dealer recommended Dawn for dishes and to wax with a non-abrasive wax to protect the decals. He suggested Maquiers or Turtle Wax.
  • Sorry, no pressure washer. Sounds like a great idea except that it's hard on the decals and even worse is that it can force water into areas where it shouldn't be. Any small cracks in caulking will let the water in. The upside of hand washing is that you're actually right there, close and can inspect the caulked areas as you go. It's not all that bad a job if you have a long handled soft brush for the up-high areas. We're actually looking forward to giving Rocky his first bath tomorrow....the quick wash down at the dealers doesn't count. As far as what to wash with...we just use something like Turtle Wax Car Wash or similar. DH has found a wax he loves..Thetford RV Wax and Oxidation Remover....Camping World. He uses a buffer to apply it except for the decal areas and does that by hand. It wipes off very easily. He can wax the whole trailer in a lot less time than he used to spend complaining about having to do it. If you are short on time to do the whole thing, do the front first. Makes the bugs wash off easier.
  • My TT is gel coated, so I wash it with soap and a good dose of TSP. Then polish and put on 2 coats of wax(Collinite Fleetwax).
  • I bought a palm size power orbital polisher. It makes the job a ton easier.Use it on my boat and the R.V....Mike
  • Lots of elbow grease helps.
A thorough hand wash using an automotive wash soap.
followed by hand wax. depending on what type of siding you have will depend on how you proceed from here.
BTW NO power washers. Just too hard on things.
