- qtla9111NomadGood post. On my way to Florida a few years ago, I couldn't avoid a steel cable on the road. It did just that, wrapped around my drive shaft. Fortunately I was able to avoid disaster but it was a pain to get it off.
- Chuck_thehammerExplorerHistory..
car crash test in the 1950's a tissue box on rear window shelf..
could shatter the front windshield.. - romoreExplorer IIAn empty fuel drum bounced out of a speeding pickup and rolled into my parents yard. 30 bucks in my pocket.:B Lots of good stuff to be picked up along the highway but people have been killed or seriously hurt from unsecured items in truck boxes and open trailers. Violations will net stiff fines here too.
- campiniaExplorerOn the other hand, my brother-in-law in Texas calls empty gas cans, raincoats, and other stuff blown out of the bed of pickemup trucks "treasures". :D
I had to laugh at this, it made me picture "Cousin Eddy" from the National Lampoon shows! - Tom_BarbExplorerIn Wa. this is called an unsecured load. the fine is horrendous.

Mine is a 3 fold soft cover as well. And I agree, the box stays bone dry.LOFAT36 wrote:
That is why I have a tonneau cover.
Same here, even a soft cover solves this problem entirely. When I bought my 2012 Silvy this past spring it had a bed liner but no tonneau cover. I ran like that for a couple of months, reluctant to spend another thou on a decent hard cover, so with an abundance of caution had to tie down everything in the bed. Luck of luck, my neighbour was buying a new truck and offered me his nearly new GM soft cover for $200 Cdn - done! Now nothing blows around and best of all it's surprisingly 100% watertight - love it. :B - SoundGuyExplorer

LS - Passin_ThruExplorerOne of my friends hit a deer with a Peterbilt. Wrapped it around the driveshaft. Took 2 hrs to cut out blood, guts and hide. Worst one was when a friend hit a skunk and it landed on the battery box on a Pete. He said it got stronger smelling until he stopped. Skunk ran off but truck smelled real bad.
