That seemed interesting to me, except the thermostat he put in was extremely loose. Not sure how good of a contact the thermostat has to the tank. He says make sure it stays against the tank, but his install does not seem like that is being done. It almost falls out when he put the spade adapters on it. :h
He installed an adjustable t-stat (Atwood) in place of the fixed t-stat. Fixed uses three tabs that get bent down over washer compressing spring.
The adjustable uses a light weight bracket with a very weak spring. The adjustable t-stat can rotate and doesn't take much to pull away from tank wall. I used one but with a heavier spring.....still would have to clean contact surface. The only advantage is it is adjustable (110*-150*F). Needs improvement....better bracket and spring
