I recently replaced my Girard Tankless unit with an Atwood 6gallon water heater. I think you may have been lucky to get 30% use out of a Tankless water heater - total garbage in my mind. New Atwood works like a charm. Was installed without any modifications to camper - with one exeption... the Atwood exterior cover is different than the Girard cover, so I had to get the new white cover painted. This was an expensive swap... but I now enjoy camping again. Best of luck to those who decide to keep these Girard (or other) units. My RV is a 2013 Jayco Melbourne and I received absolutely no satisfaction from them either when I shared my complaints about the Girard product. These are cheaper water heaters than Suburban or Atwood, so you get what you pay for. Jayco and other companies are trying to sell these as an upgrade, which is really kind of silly if you price them out.
