Just a reminder to those when de-winterizing...Hooked up the house water hose to the city water connect last night to flush the lines. Turned on the tap then realized the trailer was locked, so I went inside to get the keys. My son was cutting the grass so I couldn't hear any noise from inside the trailer.I was gone in total maybe 2-3 mins, came back opened the trailer door to water pouring out of the bathroom along the inside wall of the trailer back towards the couch. The taps where left on full blast from when I winterized in the fall to relieve pressure. Somehow the plug go put in the bathroom sink and it was overflowing. :EGrabbed a bunch of towels from in the trailer and soaked up the water, then got out the shop vac and sucked up as much water as I could from under the bathroom wall. I then ran some big box fans to help dry it up.Hopefully there will be little damage under the walls and to the floor. The water wasn't sitting on them for very long, as I said maybe 2 or 3 minutes. I can only imagine how bad this would have been if I was gone longer :o Word to the wise, always check the taps before you turn on the water :S You'd think I would know better, i've been doing this for 8 years...

Why didn't you just turn off the water to the TT?

Did something similar with mine, The outside shower was on and I did not realize it until water was pouring out from underneath. At least it is coming up summer and it has some chance to dry out. In my case I was headed south so a week or 2 in Arizona on the way ensured it all dried out. I am very paranoid these days about water. I am getting ready to sell my old RV and have found rot & damage in the area under the furnace. Water was getting in there (check the seams in there behind the door and caulk them on yours). Now I have spend a few bucks to get it repaired before selling it and I will have to discount it more, since I am honest about that sort of thing.

I can do one better. When we bought our new motorhome they put the sticker for city water on the wrong outlet. Never had anything with a tank flush on it. Good thing it was new because I filled it to overflow the toilet.

I don't see the point. You have to close a valve anyway, why not do it at the source and eliminate any and all chances of flooding your rig?

Slightly similar problem when some of the grandchildren visited our (new to us) rig and had to play with everything they found. Of course they left the taps on in both the kitchen and bath.

Later when it was time to use the rig, as soon as I turned on the water pump, we got a spray in both places.

Lesson learned: Kid-proof the place after any have been there.

When ever connecting water to RV always go inside and make sure everything is OK. This applies when simply connecting water at CG.

I always turn the city water valve off when leaving the RV for any length of time. Even if things look good when you leave, a water line connect or valve can fail at any time. Think about how all of these water line connections are vibrating all the time when on the road!
