Water Pump Trouble

I'm having trouble getting my water pump working after pulling it out from winter storage. My TT is a 2013 Viewfinder(cruiser rv).

The dealer we bought it from winterized it last fall by blowing all the lines. When I ran the pump all I got was a little burbling at the faucets. The freshwater tank is at 1/3rd full. The water lines seem okay when directly connected to pressurized water, no noticeable leaks and I filled the water heater while on pressurized water. Initially it wouldn't even draw water from the bypass winterize hose. I removed the bypass valve and found some plastic shavings and cleaned those out. The inline filter had a couple small plastic fragments and it is now clean. After reconnecting it was able to pull water from the bypass okay. I switched the bypass back to the freshwater tank and the faucets kind flowed a little bit but never had the pressure that we had last year. After 5-10 minutes of the pump running I switched back to the bypass line and it wouldn't even draw like it did a little earlier, like it gave up trying.

After that I replaced the pump and still just get a little more than a trickle through the faucets. With all faucets closed the pump never builds up enough pressure to turn off. I'm stumped any other suggestions. Is there anything else I'm missing? The dealer we bought from is 40+ miles away so I'm trying to resolve it on my own to save the gas and time. At this point I think I need professional help :)
  • Looks like filling the tank up further has finally solved the problem. Though I did this a month ago with no success, I suspect the debris in the line may have been part of the original problem. Thanks all.
  • Your pump is sucking air rather than water.

Fill the tank. Do NOT go by the idiot lights.

If the problem continues with a full tank then the issue is between the tank and pump.
  • I would try adding more water to the tank. Our present 5th wheel and our last one needed to be at least 1/3 full to draw water. Fill it to 2/3 and give it a try. Open a tap when trying to draw water but don't leave the pump on too long.

What BLUE said. Knobs are probably in the wrong position.
  • the plastic was before the intake on the pump. Also i've replaced the pump with a new one and it didn't so much better.
  • I think so. I'm not sure how to access the holding tank itself the hose just disappears in to the floor. I know I was able to pump out some of the water from the tank as the meter indicated it dropped below 1/3rd after hours of playing around.
  • I wonder if there was a little water in the pump itself over the winter and the impeller shattered (the plastic you found in the line)?
  • Are all your knobs in the correct position to draw water from the water tank?
