I always use the pressurized water connection from my house to slowly push out all the air in the lines and the water heater,
by opening all hot and cold water faucets, even the shower. Letting the water fill all the lines and water heater, then testing the pressurized system.
Then I disconnect the pressurized water supply hose, put about 20 gallons into the water tank, and lastly I test the 12 volt water pump.
