WD hitch bar broke

Has anyone ever had a WD bar break? I have a husky WC hitch with the 801-1200 lb round bars,, had one snap right at the bend this morning,, Dealer said they have never seen one break before. Dealer had a used one in the back that they gave me so I could get home ok.
  • The only one I had break was because I had dropped too many links on chains and way overloaded the bars on a load of wood I had on my 16' trailer! It was my fault thinking that I should use the same tension as all loads where this particular load was way more than previously hauled.

Nice of that dealer. Is the WDH under warranty by any chance? Might still be a good idea to let Husky know. If this is truly a rare occurrence for them, they might see it clear to replace the bars as a goodwill gesture.
  • I looked at the Husky website,,, saw one place that said one year,, but then under support it said limited lifetime, so not sure which it is,, dealer is going to check for me,, they are also a Husky dealer.
  • Do a forum search for Blue Ox Sway Pro. There have been a couple of broken bars. I had one of them.

Don't know what caused mine to break. Blue Ox sent me a new set. Haven't used them yet.
  • Since it must be a very unusual occurrence, I imagine Husky would want to know about it warranty or not.
  • More than likely it was a manufacturing defect. I have never seen it happen.
  • we could see where it had been cracked for a while.. No idea how long though,,,
