The weights you all have posted in this thread don't surprise me for DRW trucks. Last time I weighed my '16 F350 SRW, it came in at 8,800 pounds loaded with the gear I haul around at all times.
Mind you, I haul around a lot more than most do, such as 3 bins of firewood at 75+ pounds each, an extra bin of tools at 125+ pounds, Honda 2000 generator, 20 lb CO2 tank, 2.5 lb propane tank, a 3 gallon gas tank, and a fire extinguisher mounted in the bed. The truck also came optioned with the camper package (the highest GVWR I could get), the 5th wheel prep, a canopy, and a bed mat. Also I can't forget the 50 gallon Titan fuel tank.
When I actually go out on a camping trip, there's an additional bin or two of firewood, two dogs, bikes and/or kayaks, 14 gallons of spare water, and sometimes a keg and large cooler that gets added to the mix, so I probably add up to another 600 pounds to the truck before hooking up my trailer that has about 1,200 pounds of tongue weight.
The funny part is I don't get much worse fuel mileage than my '96 7.3 F250 and the new truck levels out when I'm fully loaded; otherwise the rear of the truck sits higher than the front.
Here's a pic of the typical cargo load before I add in additional gear for a trip:
