I'm curious about how you find the length. I've got a short bed which will help, but I've been shopping trailers and my wife really likes the quad bunk models that tend to run 30'+ in length, which is a little longer than I was thinking about getting originally. I'm not worried about it going down the highway, but more about getting it in and out of tight camping spots or down forest service roads.
Really I have not had a problem yet. I find it easier to maneuver than my old 5th wheel, and I get it just about everywhere we want to go. I do check before I head out to see where the bigger gas stations are but that is about it. With the Diesel fills up are not as big of a concern.
I have had the 32 foot Passport 26 miles down the Forest service roads in the Gifford Pinchot wilderness of Washington. No problems.

This was my old setup. To be honest with the long wheel base and good hitch it tows just as nice, well to me at least.
