Weight capacity for 2019 Ram 1500

I am looking for a truck camper to put on my 2019 Ram 1500 quad cab 5.7 hemi PU truck. I am getting conflicting payload capacities from 1,793 to 1,950 lbs. The truck camper weighs 1,280 lbs. Will this work? Anyone else use this truck with a similar weight of camper? Looking for help.
  • Regardless of the debate that will ensue here....
A coil sprung Ram 1500 is not a good chassis design for carrying high center of gravity loads.
If you do go forward with it, plan on airbags (the only option for Rams with coils, and don't use the in-spring coils, get the external mounted ones), best sway bar you can get and heavier tires. And keep the weight to an absolute min in the camper, which sort of defeats the purpose of an RV.
    Just my 2c.
  • The TC weighs 1280 lb. Now load the TC all up and now its maybe 1800-2000 lbs. Now add people and other gear stuff you carry in the truck. Now the truck may have well over 2k+ lbs on the rear axle.
A 1500 Ram truck has a 4100 rawr and the rear axle may weigh in the 2400-2500 lb range leaving the truck with approx 1600 lb in the bed payload.
IMO a lighter weight truck camper is needed especially for the 1500 Rams soft coil spring rear suspension.

Check the stickers in the door jamb - do they show the payload for your truck?
