I would not do this. You will be pushing your TV pretty far past what it was designed for. Maybe some people are doing it, and haven't had a problem.....Yet. Smooth roads, careful loading and no surprises can make an overloaded combination seem to work.
As an example, we once hit an unexpected whoop de do on a secondary road crossing from Colorado into New Mexico. It felt like the whole rig got airborne. We had no damage whatsoever.
Something like this would likely destroy your TV.
Is that a risk you are willing to take?
Can you please clarify your concerns Dog...
I will not be overloading the trailer...It is 4500 GVWR...My tow vehicle is rated for 5K...
All I'm referring to is hitch weight...am I missing something?
Please forgive me if I'm missing something as I'm owning my first one here and haven't been part of this industry for over 8 years....
Then your REAL TT weight is unknown. Once you weigh it ready to camp you will most likely be in for a shock. Then putting a WD hitch, especially one with 1000# bars that has been recommended here, on a small unibody car...
Sure just load it up and give it a go. What could possibly go wrong.
