Weight distribution hitch question
I just bought a Passport 153ML....my 2013 Honda ridgeline states "We don't recommend using a weight distribution hitch" max towing is 5000lbs hitch weight with all my passengers is rated for 550-6...

i believe Honda recommends against using a WD system is because they're concerned about owners transferring to much weight to the front axle. The Ridgeline is rated for a FRONT GAWR = 3105 lbs. Given the weight ratio of 58/42 on a base weight of 4500 LBS puts a normal load on the front of 4500*0.58 = 2610LBS leaving 495 LBS of load for the front end.
