Well first off, the max tow rating is just an advertising number. By the time you deduct all of the fine print items from that, I doubt your TR will even be 4K
Then your REAL TT weight is unknown. Once you weigh it ready to camp you will most likely be in for a shock. Then putting a WD hitch, especially one with 1000# bars that has been recommended here, on a small unibody car...
Sure just load it up and give it a go. What could possibly go wrong.Yes you are to be commended for asking.
lol...Well I'm obviously not just loading it up and giving it a go...I wouldn't be asking the question here to begin with if that was the case.
I've done the calculations from the Honda manual deducting for passengers and cargo...It's 5K so I'm good there.(I'm accounting for 4 people even though its 2 and a toddler)
You must have missed where I stated it's 800 lb bars I was thinking about. I might even drop to 600's after talking with a hitch guy...(See next post for more info)
I'm still doing research and have delayed delivery to be safe but thanks for the feedback and heads up.
But.... Too often I see people wanting others to tell them that it is OK to do something that is highly questionable. This being a public forum, there will always be some that will tell you what you want to hear. It appears to me, that may be what is happening here.
Whatever you decide to do, is ultimately up to you. Just keep in mind, that those that are telling you it will work fine, will not be writing any checks, if it doesn't.
Absolutely correct and agreed completely....On public forums it can go both ways. Nay-sayers and no-problemers...The middle ground combined with alternative research supporting it tends to be the correct answers.
Again Dog, I do really appreciate it.
