Yes, get a WDH. By the time you have the trailer on the ball and all of your camping paraphernalia in the back of the Tahoe, you'll be unloading the front axle quite a bit. With a WDH, you can put some of that weight back onto the front axle and have a much nicer ride.
FWIW, my rig is about 5K lbs. and I tow with an F-250. I use an E-qual-izer brand hitch with built in sway control.
