If it couldn't carry the weight the manufacturer would install smaller tanks. Do you confidently fill the gas tank in your car or do you question its ability?
We ALWAYS travel full of water. You won't see any difference in fuel usage empty or full.
Well, the trailer is rated to carry a maximum amount of weight, and sometimes water will exceed that.
For example:
My R-Vision Trailer Cruiser 30QBSS is rated for a total of 5780 lbs maximum. It's dry weight is 4370 lbs. After putting on the propane tanks, battery, food, clothes, chairs, bedding, dishes...ect, it weighs in at 6006 lbs last time over the scale. Empty water tanks, overloaded already. My wife and myself have seriously streamlined what we bring along now, and we still can't get it below the 5780, so water is a no-go for us.
And to answer your other question, since I'm at the limit of my 1/2 ton's rated ability, no I don't confidently fill my gas tank. I run it only half full or lower when I've got the trailer, the family, and our stuff.
I could solve this easily with a trailer rated for higher weight, and a truck rated to handle more weight... but for only 30 nights a year or less... not worth it for my family.
