Well, it finally happened...

The knees hurt, the hips hurt, the hands hurt, the shoulders hurt...
So, the last manual transmission vehicle is gone.
I will miss selecting my own gears.
Oh, sure, I can still do it in a limited fashion, but it just isn't the same.
Old age sure isn't fun, but it is better than the alternative!

  • But you CAN select your own gear. With Ford's select shift. You can run up and down thru the gears as you please, with just a flick of a finger.
  • RIP to the manual trans. Seems like less and less are being bought every year.
I truly believe driving a stick makes you a more aware driver.
  • I will be there someday and am not looking forward to it. There's nothing like the fun of a stick shift. The first new car I bought had a 5-speed, and every new vehicle that I could get one in since had it. But I know it's coming. My knees and DC traffic can sometimes give me trouble...
  • ....or, you may horribly miss having a manual ! :)

I have various vehicles I drive, and I far prefer driving the truck with a manual. Especially towing. But then, I have never liked automatics, and have been driving since 1966. I won't argue that automatics don't work well, because that would be a foolish argument. The 5R110 in the F350 works well....but I still hate it ! :B

Sorry to hear your joints are in pain. You are right....old age ain't for sissies....
  • And just to think! If you'd had an auto tranny vehicles starting many years ago, maybe your aching joints wouldn't be aching now or for years to come.

Lets just call it what it is: "self-inflicted" premature joint wear damage that was easily avoidable! SIPJWD for short...
  • Sorry for the pains that created the switch...but I also think you will be happy with your new truck...

    Regards
  • In just a short period of time you'll wonder why you ever drove a manual....
