I'm not a fan of air bags, Never used them so I am really ignorant about them, but it sounds like for the flexibility you need they will work for you and you can be enjoying your new ride.

It is certainly not my intent to split hairs. Unless I missed something, Buzz had a setup (2500) that worked well for several years and many miles. My bet he will make the changes for his 3500 to perform even better. All a mater of tuning.
