- mikakujaExplorerGood choice, Champion makes a decent gen!! We are into season 2 with our Champion 3100 and love it, no complaints at all.
- campiniaExplorerThanks for the responses everyone. I went with the Champion 3100 with remote start. There is a $200 difference between the Wen and the Champion, but, just didn't feel like it was worth the risk when everyone seems to have such good things to say about the Champion.
- Ron3rdExplorer IIINever heard of the WEN so I guess if you want to roll the dice, go ahead. Chinese clones pop up on this forum all the time.
Might be nothing wrong with it. But if you want a proven performer with proven customer support, go with the Champion. - 2oldmanExplorer II

They will rate by the 'standard' that paints them in the best light possible. Sometimes that's to not list the db level at all.
different generators manufacturers rate by different standards.
My standard is price. You get what you pay for. - D_E_BishopExplorer2oldman, my point which I guess wasn't clear is, different generators manufacturers rate by different standards, trying to compare one to the other by the information they provide is non-impossible. You know the old apples to oranges thing.
One of the majors, refuses to give db ratings at all for the above reason. Generac is one, good equipment, little info.
I prefer my Champion you prefer your Honda, there is room for both and those who hate them both figure in here someplace. Personally I wouldn't buy a Wen product, I just don't like their engineering, it doesn't mean they are junk, it's just my feelings. - ClockmanExplorerJust get the Champion From Costco delivered for $700, Solid performer, has RV outlet too...Plus the Costco one is Black, and you do NOT have to be a Costco member either

57db.. no, that doesn't mean a thing out of context. From how many feet? 100?
I was able to download the maual from the company website and here are the db specs:
Noise rating (from 22 feet away with an ambient rating of 44db) 57 db at no load, 58 db 1/4 load, 60 db 1/2 load, 63 db 3/4 load. - 2oldmanExplorer IIHonda lists theirs at a load level.

Isn't that how Honda lists the db rating for their generators, "out of context"? The 3100 Honda is 67db IIRC, at what 100 yards? - rbpruExplorer III still have my Wen soldering gun and use it from time to time.
However, it is not a generator so longevity may not be the same. It is good to see some stiff competition in the generator world.
