What does your WD hitch manual say about adjusting it. Mine says the trailer and truck should be level. Some folks prefer the TT a bit nose down.
If my WD hitch is adjusted the way I like it and the scales say I have not exceeded the TT or TV axel ratings while still within my TV rated cargo capacity. I am good to go.
Weighing the truck, TT, then combo separately is the best way to get all the numbers you need. I gives you a better measure of your true tongue weight.
The TT and tongue weight of course can change, depending on how and how much stuff you load into your TT for each trip.
