- GordonThreeExplorerTowing a 3500 lb 20 ft trailer. Just bought the 6.4 (4.10 rear), can't say that I'm impressed by it yet, trading up from similar spec'd 5.7 (3.92 rear). My little trailer never held back the 5.7, even in the Canadian rockies and steeper hills North / West of there.
What I am happy with is I load the bed with as much gear as I want, hitch up the trailer, and the rear end's not dragging on the ground, the 5.7 was in a 1500 truck with only 1200lbs rating. New 2500 truck is rated over 3000lbs.
I think the extra horses from the 6.4 is offset by the additional ~2000 lbs the truck itself weighs?
