I run my wimpy little gasser 7500 miles between oil changes per the onboard OCI. What diesel oil is so inferior that it needs to be changed every 5k miles? Isn't the OCI for the newer diesels 15k using any manufacturer approved and API certified engine oil? Has anyone here suffered a catastrophic engine failure due to not using a specific brand of oil?
