What can I safely pull with my 2011 2500HD 6.0L GMC?

I pull a 30' Rockwood 8281 5er with a 2011 Sierra 2500HD. Don't know my camper specs off hand but I am happy with the way the truck pulls and stops the trailer.

Thanks for all of your replies. We are going to finish out this season and then go to a couple of camper shows so we can walk through some different models. We may not even switch since my truck pulls this set up so good.

I really wouldn't get too hung up on the rear end ratio it won't make that much of a difference.

It is so difficult to tell someone else what kind of performance they would be satisfied with. I own pretty much the same truck and load it up to about 16k combined. I would use it up to about 21-22k combined if I had a need to but that is me. I won't cry if it drops to 45 mph in 2nd at 4400 rpm for a few minutes to get up a big grade. But many would. Right now at 16k it will hold the speed limit up pretty much any interstate grade you can throw at it at normal elevations. Try the "Ike gauntlet" with it and it might be a little rough.

I have the 4.10 gears with mine. My camper is a little over 5500lbs, so it isn't an issue. I also pull cargo trailers up to 7500 lbs, skid steers, up to 10k of gravel, vehicles on occasion, and my truck is set up for a 5th wheel if I ever decide to go back to one. None of what I listed gives me the slightest concern when towing. Payload is almost 3200lbs; I would have no problem pulling a 30' camper if I needed to.

The standard gear ratio your truck comes with is the 3.73's. the 4.10 is an option. That will be your main determining factor in what you can tow comfortably.

If you like your current outback, the new 310TB would be a great upgrade, especially with the Diamond Package. I have been eyeing the non toy hauler version 301BQ for years and will probably make one ours next year. I would not go for the traditional rear garage TH for two small scooters. That's a lot of wasted space for your needs.

If $40k MSRP scares you for a nice TT, then don't look at 5th wheels which will be $10k higher, and TH another $5-10k. The 310 should be had for under $25k, maybe under $23k. Call these guys. Not too bad a drive for you and I'm sure save you thousands. I personally would custom order a 2015 Diamond package, but they do have a 2014 on the lot.

Now that is in my price comfort zone. I can afford more but I don't like to be married to the payments. Thank you!

If you like your current outback, the new 310TB would be a great upgrade, especially with the Diamond Package. I have been eyeing the non toy hauler version 301BQ for years and will probably make one ours next year. I would not go for the traditional rear garage TH for two small scooters. That's a lot of wasted space for your needs.
