Question...I'm not sure I understand the need for this extra plug?...I mean, If i had a 30amp service I wouldn't have to worry about the heater and other things blowing breakers....and since I've only got a 20amp plug at my house, I often use a 1000 watt electric heater in the trailer with no problems as long as I remember to not use anything else electrical at the same time as the heater's on...so do you have two separate 15 or 20amp circuits for this or what am I not understanding here?
If you have ever camped with a 30amp rig you know that you DO have to worry about blowing breakers, both at the service post and in the trailer, and can only use three large elec item at once- some times only two if you are running the fridge on elec also and the converter kicks in to charge.
Two reasons as far as I am concerned.
1st - our heater is 1500 watts on high and would cause the wall around the plug to feel warm after running for a while. I was not comfortable leaving the heater on high for very long for fear of fire.
2nd- Our trailer is 30 amp service and we usually run our water heater on electric when we are camped with elec service. Sometimes we would forget to switch it off and would trip the trailers 30amp breaker when using another applience like the hair dryer, coffee pot, or elec frying pan, microwave etc. Now we don't have that problem and can even plug one of those appliences into the new outlet if we are not using the heater.
In other words, it frees up one inside outlet in our trailer for use when the heater is on and we don't have to be quite so careful with our electric "sharing". The extension cord used is plugged into the campgrounds 20amp receptical and the trailers normal cord is plugged into the campgrounds 30amp receptical. Both are on seperate breakers at the post.
