The purchase price would include any finance charges you paid over the life of the vehicle as well as any initial fees.
My previous truck was also bought new, but I kept it for 16 years. Vehicles were cheaper back then so depreciation was less too. Keeping the vehicle longer also took some sting out of the resale. Perhaps I should be comparing overall vehicle cost to income for a better barometer because I definitely made less money 26 years ago...
