I can't comment on the newer trucks, but back in 2004 and 2005 when I had a 16k GVWR 5th wheel, I went with a DRW F350 (yes, it was the dreaded 6.0 engine but nothing happened!)>....main reason was that with the DRW I was more comfortably within the ratings and (I bought new) by the time one drilled down through the options and requirements, the DRW added circa $750 to the price vs. a comparable SRW.
What I found while driving the DRW from 2004 - 2009 (and it was often a daily driver since the DW wouldn't give up her Prius)...was that the length (Crew Cab with 8'box) was more of a parking/maneuvering issue than the width of the dually.
