What do you tow the bigger 5ers with?

The wife and I really like the 2 bedroom 1 1/2 bath 5ers that are out now like the keystone avalanche 360rb and similar floorplans from other manufacturers. Most have a empty pin weight of 2100 lbs and a 15000 GVWR with an empty weight of 12000 in most cases. I see these size 5ers towed by 1 ton single rear wheeled vehicles all the time but now that I am researching to purchase one myself most F350's I see with the diesel only have a payload of 3200 lbs max. This doesnt seem like it would be enough once the hitch and family is added to the truck too or would be right at MAX. Do I really need to start looking at the 1 ton duallys or am I missing something here?!?!? I have seen many 1 ton gasser trucks with a 3900 lb payload which would be sufficient but I'm sure those gasser engines just arent enough for that kind of weight. :@
  • Do you want to be at or near the max payload with a F350/3500 SRW or have plenty of breathing room with a DRW, which won't cost that much more? My DRW has a payload of 5,000 and my pin weight is 3500. Yours won't be anywhere near that but peace of mind is a wonderful thing.
  • With a bigger truck! See sig.

Fiver has a GVWR of 20k.

Head on over to the Escapees Heavy Duty Truck forum and do some reading.

Class 8 trucks can be licensed as an RV in many states and are far more capable, comfortable and safer than a dually pickup. Find the right one and it can be considerably cheaper as well!
