What gauge/size chain is used on the turnbuckles?

I need to purchased some chain for my turnbuckles...what gauge should I use? I looked at 5/16" but wondered if maybe I should go to 3/8"??? PO used happijac tie downs on his truck but I installed t...

Stretching those end links weakened them.

Nope. Stainless steel is not heat-treated and you can bend it several times before worry about metal fatigue.
