What gives???

We thought we might like a truck camper since we already have a f350 dually. So we start looking around to see what they are like and we can't find any for sale within a thousand miles. We are in NE Okla.and there just aren't any!
  • There are quite a few of them for sale right now on craiglist in the Dallas /FW area if you're willing to go that far. Quite a few older and newer Lances posted currently. You can narrow down the search by typing truck camper in the searchbar while in the Dallas RV section, good luck
  • I reside in Northeast Dallas and I have always had to road trip to look at any TCs. They are hard to find down our way. Dealers have told me it is a smaller market in Texas and Oklahoma. Keep hunting on craigslist. Depending on what your looking for in new or used and your budget. Good Luck.
  • All I can tell you is that Lance is a more expensive overall product than Palomino. It's been a few years since I looked at any new Lance TC's, and even longer for Palomino. A lot can change in a few years.

Looks like Joplin is the closest Lance dealer to you. The one I knew about in OKC is apparently not a Lance dealer any longer.

Have a look through RVTrader and be prepared to make a trip or two.

Actually, it's to your advantage to buy a new one out of state. Make the proper arrangements with the selling dealer and you'll pay no sales tax to the dealers state, and since OK doesn't tag or register TC's, you'll pay no tax to them either.

Or, buy a nice lightly used one from an individual like I did 10 years ago and get a better price and no tax. I didn't see my camper in person until the day I bought it. The previous owner sent me lots of hi-rez pictures, so there were no surprises. I was happy with what I got, and I still own it.

There are some parts of the country where TC's are VERY popular, and that's generally where the big TC dealers are, and where most of the used units will be.

    :):)
  • We traveled 800 miles one way for our first truck camper and 450 miles one way for our second. I understand your frustration.

My suggestion is to use the internet and YouTube. When you find something that interests you, many of us would be willing to show you our camper. I bet there is somebody reasonably close that would let you see their RV. If that doesn't pan out then it's road trip time or fly someplace like Denver where there are several dealers with truck campers.
  • Am I correct in assuming the Lance is a better overall product than the Palomino?

Don't know if you are looking for new or used, but there is a Lance dealer in Joplin and a Palomino dealer in Rogers, AR.

If you want to check out a Lance 1050S, I'll give you the nickel tour of mine.
  • I did a quick look and found two at Earls Lake Country RV in Muskogee. They might have more in stock too.
  • Road trip? Seriously though, check out YouTube. There are a lot of walkthroughs there.
