Huntingdog,
Great report!
The funny thing I see in these responses is that they were not there.
I have heard many people say they heard and felt a trailer tire blow....others can't see or hear any problem.
I do think that the bearing was probably sending some heat warnings for a while as it failed... Then again sometimes they just fail in cataustrophic and spectacular fashion.
Some people invest in an infrared temp monitor and shoot the wheel hubs at stops. That may or may not have helped in your case.
My last TT had plastic hub covers... I was NOT removing them at every stop to touch each hub. I did feel the wheel around the hub to make sure there was consistent temps... But I was always concerned that if I did find a hot hub that I may burn myself by touching them.
Some people never feel anything behind the truck. I know when I towed my TT with my dually that I would feel pretty isolated from the TT.
Now that I am towing with a Minivan and a pop up I am acutely aware of what's going on behind me. The set up tows great but I can hear the sway bar moan and the trailer brakes whine... I couldn't hear anything but the occasional sway bar moan with my TT.
I'm glad all was good, and everyone is safe. No tail wagging the dog, and it sounds like you have a rock solid set up.
Thanks!
Jeremiah
