It is true that with a TT there is some assembly required, and a good bit of maintenance.
I guess one lesson to be learned, is to ask the dealer how quickly it can be looked at or fixed.
If I were in this situation I would tell the dealer I am picking it and will dry camp rather than miss out on a trip.
Also, you might be able to find a local repair service but I would certainly try to fix it myself first.
