Our use changed over the years.
When we were 15', the kids were young and our intention was weekend "camping". It did the job perfectly.
When we were 25', we started to travel in addition to camping. We did 4 trips of 7k miles with the 25 footer and we NEVER would have done that in the smaller one.
Now we are 34.5' and in a Class A. Our desire to travel has grown more and more. We KNOW we will be on 2 month trips each year in addition to our local weekenders. We're getting older and appreciate the comforts that a larger motorhome affords.
What's "right" for any of us will likely change throughout time. We loved each one for what it was, and each one was the right thing at the time. No regrets.
Specifically to the topic, 25' with one slide seemed like a very good sweet spot. We had reasonable comfort to last for longer trips, yet were never turned away based on size. However, we say to this day that if our trips were never longer than a few days, we all prefer the 15 footer! Can we have them all!?!?
