What is the max length travel trailer you think is practical

Assumptions - you have a big enough truck to pull it.
you want to get it into state parks
you want to get into national parks
you would feel comfortable pulling it
cost is not a problem

Just wondering what the concenus is for max length. I know people have different likes /dislikes, but I think there will be within a foot or two a max length most people won't want to exceed.

  • Drivability and the SP NP requirement are two different things.
  • I have a 35 footer. I can can get it in 90% of the places that I want to go. It actually tows better than the 26 footer that it replaced. You do have to study gas stops a little closer but we love the layout of the trailer and I have zero regrets going that large.
  • I really don't 'need' anymore than I have already. Guess that's why I've kept it since 2002. :)

Done my own mods to it to make it more comfortable for us over the years and still can do more things to it.

I'd go to around 25' if I really wanted to. But, for now still happy with the old one.

  • 25 to 35 feet. No higher than 11'6" (for the "average" user), and no wider than 8 feet.

But, there is absolutely nothing wrong with having a TT, 5er, or MH in the 40 foot range either. It's really all a matter of adjusting your expectations.

If you really want to fit comfortable in almost any campground, campsite, then stay under 25 feet. Otherwise you've just got to be a bit more picky.

We started in a tent and the back end of pick-up truck, then a pop-up tent camper, then a 25 foot, 31 foot, and 35 foot travel trailer. Now a 41 foot 5er. We've been comfortable with each one over the years. It's all a matter of how you are willing to adapt.
