Some people say it is your bank cutting you off, but I think it has as much to do with the retailer's processor. I have run into it many times, and the limit is not always the same. $75 at one station $150 at the next.
Back when I was driving semi, and fuel was approaching $5.00 I would hit the fleet cards $750 daily limit on occasion. Kinda stinks when you can't buy enough fuel to get your free shower at the end of the day.
I also wish the US could catch up to the rest of the world and just get chip/pin readers installed. As it is, you can't pay at the pump most places in Canada with a US card.
