I have a 2007 GMC Sierra SLE 3500 dually, duramax/allison combo. On a recent trip to the Grand Canyon, my fuel economy was in the 10-13mpg range. On the last leg coming home, in the Colorado mountains including Wolf Creek Pass, I got 12.8mpg. Going across the high desert of northern AZ, got 10.6-11mpg, at 62mph. That sure as heck beats what I would have gotten with my 2003 Chevy Tahoe; would have been lucky to get 7-8mpg towing the same trailer.
Yep....you saved $70.00 for every 1,000 miles you went.
On a 2000 mile round trip, that's $140 in savings...which would significantly pay for the places we stayed.
There's also the peace of mind knowing that the diesel was able to pull Wolf Creek with no problem whatsoever. The Tahoe? Not so much. Maybe 20MPH in 2/1st gear. No thanks.
