New trailer, under warranty and it's 200# under GVWR before you significantly load it up.:E
I suggest you take it back to your dealer and demand a replacement equivalent trailer that is not so under-engineered.
You MAY need to talk to an attorney about this.
Lemon law may or may not apply to trailers in your State but Magnuson-Moss certainly would!
You certainly should ABSOLUTELY NOT even contemplate doing any modifications to it.

I think you need to check your weights before you raise too much of a fuss. If you are loading over the 6800# GVWR you can probably kiss your warranty or any other recourse goodbye.
I just noticed you are in BC, Canada so my comments about Lemon Law and Magnuson-Moss do not apply.
You need to figure out what Consumer protection Laws you have available.
Transport Canada may be your last resort.
