What makes up a GVWR rating?
I am wondering what it is in the design of a trailer's frame and suspension or otherwise that gives it a particular GVWR rating. Is it the axles primarily? We have a trailer with a GVWR of 6800 lb...

Keep in mind according to BC posters they have to register their trucks at a GVWR which may be the sum of the vehicles axle/tire ratings or the vehicles mfg GVWR.What's the point of this?
In the Motor Vehicle Act Regulations which includes amendments up to B.C. Reg. 128/2012, July 1, 2012,
"gross vehicle weight rating" means the value specified by the vehicle manufacturer as the loaded weight of a single vehicle.
