That Info Sheet was a link from Drivesmartbc.ca. If you read through the whole "Sheet", it refers to a 5th wheel and recreational trailer and at the bottom it says if you need more information on GVWR, you can speak to an RV or Auto dealer.
I *think* what it is, is that the Commercial Vehicle Safety and Enforcement Division does the random roadside vehicle safety inspections in Metro Vancouver and around the province. I've never seen a regular cop stopping an RV to look it over for safety issues - ever.
I'm not certain if all the rules pertaining to GVWRs and RVs and related matters are all contained within the BC Motor Vehicle Act?
There's a good website from the BC gov. somewhere, but I can't seem to find it right now.
