What not to be without

So now that we are joining the owners of a TT a few things are starting to run through my mind. After spending years as a MH owner and traveler we got to know the ropes and in & outs of the MH lifestyle. We have learned which kitchen utinsels to bring and that we pack light with dishes and glass wear using mostly paper plates and glasses for those travel days. When we looked at TT's one of the main Criterias was that we could pull over and without putting out the slides we can use the bathroom, get into the refrig and sit at the dinning room chairs. I know I can pack much lighter on tools as I do not need any of the heavy duty tools that I needed for a Diesel break down or the large wheel tools.
We plan to pack light on the groceries and not take so much extra as we have in the past. I think a small 2000 watt generator will surfice as we do little hot weather dry camping. So what is it that people getting into a TT forget to have or bring.

  • You'll need 1 cast iron skillet, a griddle and a pot to cook rice and beans in. Chopsticks to eat with. A screwdriver in case the tab on a beer can breaks, I use a Swiss Army knife. Don't forget a fly swatter. That's all you need unless you want to read, then your glasses as there are libraries everywhere. Wallyworld and Autozone wil become your best friends.
  • The three legged stool,
    * Floor plan
    * Tow vehicle
    * Cost or financing

    If all three are not right, the deal will not work,

    Also as mentioned an accessible trailer with the slide IN is a real plus.
  • They forget to have the salesmen put all the slides IN and then actually go inside the camper and see how functional it is. Can everything be accessed? Can you comfortably spend 24 hours in the camper without going nuts with slides in. Can you cook, use the bathroom, shower, sleep, watch television with all slides IN.

    I think this is the single most missed item people do, they don't ask and take a VERY hard look at how functional the TT is with all slides IN before purchasing.

    Our Outback, all slides IN:

    Slides out: Big difference in the look:
