In CT half ton pickups outnumber 3 /4 tons.
Your trailer size will be limited to the PAYLOAD capacity of your pickup .
We camp with our adult kids .
We camp mostly without hookups and therefore use 2 EZ-UP Quick-Shades to augment our covered space for shade or rain .
a 12 x 12 for cooking / eating , card games.
We often set up a tent under one of the quick shades (a 10 x 10 ).
That mitigates solar heat gain and keeps the tent dry in a downpour.
We use a 21T Komfort and have plenty of room to carry the additional quick shades and tent . We have a time proven mattress / fabric SHEETS / fleece sleep sack combo that insures a great nights sleep for our tenters.
Too many folks go to the RV show and purchase a Too Big trailer because it is parked . "Two-Foot-Itus "
After the first trip they discover they have trailer sway because their Lincoln Navigator limits their tongue weight . Heavy tongue weight mitigates sway .
If you buy the trailer that fits 5 inside you may need to think about an F 250 or HD 2500 soon after .
I know I have jumped ahead . I am just trying to relay what many other first timers have gone through .
Further, the best camping for us is NOT in an RV Park with hookups .
It is in the primitive camp spots down a gravel road alongside a stream or lake .
Good luck .
