OK for the supporters of the 2nd amendment I do respect your rights however I prefer something that makes less noise like a crossbow or recurve and in extreme cases anything at hand including solid objects will do...evil laugh...
as for emergency gear that will depend on your own knowledge and comfort level but a must have is always a fire extinguisher.
